Well, hopefully this post will be the solution to all your problems. Of course you could just not do a winged eyeliner, but where's the fun in that? The main thing to remember is that practice makes perfect.
1. First you need to look at the shape of your eye. If your eye is quite round, focus the eyeliner on the outer edge of your eyes, but if you have longer, wider eyes you can line the whole eye, and if you want your eye to look rounder, you can focus some of the liner on the middle of your eye.

2. Now you need to look at your eyelids. Open your eyes to see how much of the lid is visible when they are open. The more of your eyelid you can see the thicker your line can be. It's really up to you to be honest but I don't like it when my eyeliner covers all the visible lid.

A lot of eyelid visible

3. Choose the product that is right for you. The are many products out there, gels, liquids, you name it. If you are a beginner I recommend starting with something simple like a felt pen and forget the hassles (as much as I love them) of gel pot liners. Here are just a few you can get, the only one here that is not available at Superdrug or other drugstores, is the Eyeko one. This is about £15, but the others are about £3
4. Now you're ready to begin.
It's best to try and stick as close to the lash line as you can get and start with a thin line, because you can always make the line thicker, but it's harder to make it thinner.
There are different methods to applying eyeliner and you just have to experiment to find the best one for you. However, it is suggested that beginners try 'joining the dots'. This is where you draw lines with the eyeliner along your lash line and then join them together. I prefer to just to small strokes of the eyeliner.

As you can see in this bottom photo, the wing has been made by following her lower lash line. Once you've created the wing you just need to add a little more eyeliner to join the wing and then line along your top lashes. You'll see what needs to be done to make it look good.
Play around, have fun and practice. I hope this was somewhat hopeful and I wish you luck on your eyeliner journey.
