Tips for keeping your hair healthy
One of the BIGGEST mistakes that people make is brushing wet hair. When you do this, not only are you stretching your hair and making it weak but your also breaking the hair so it starts to look messy and uncontrolled. So, when your hair is wet use a wide toothed comb to detangle. If your hair gets knotty like mine you can use a detangling spray to help you but be patient. To make your life a bit easier, when you're in the shower and you've put in your conditioner comb your hair then and it will be smooth when you get out. Which brings me onto my next tip. A lot of people don't use conditioner, but if you want really healthy looking hair then this is an essential. If you are really really against using a conditioner then I recommend a leave in spray conditioner like the Elvive one I did a review on.
Before drying, once you have combed your hair you can use a brush once the tangles are out but I prefer to use something like a tangle teaser. Remember to use a heat protectant before drying and styling, they don't cost much and they are a huge help. I also recommend letting your hair dry naturally once in a while. I do it on days when I'm not seeing anyone because my hair is a bit wild without any styling. As well as this, every week or so I recommend using a hair mask. I use the Elvive Nutri-Gloss one and I always get compliments of how shiny my hair looks when I use it.
Another big mistake people make is constantly washing your hair. I really don't recommend washing your hair everyday as this just makes your hair produce oil faster.
So, to sum up:
1. use a wide tooth comb when brushing wet hair
2. use conditioner or a conditioner spray
3. use a heat protectant before styling
4. Let your hair dry naturally once in a while
5. Use a hair mask
6. Don't wash your hair everyday
7. Regular haircuts are also are yes. Don't try and cut your own hair unless you are a professional. It can go wrong and you don't have that luxurious feeling.
